KUWAIT CITY, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Role of the private sector should be seriously addressed in the reconstruction process in Iraq, said Secretary General of the Iraqi Cabinet Mahdi Al-Allaq on Monday.
He made the remarks at the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI).
He said in his speech that the private sector should be heavily involved in the reconstruction process in the war-torn country, noting that the endeavor is a global responsibility and stability in the country could help open up trade routes in region.
Iraq has introduced a raft of measures in a bid to provide an investment-friendly environment, including administrative and financial reforms, he said.
The three-day KICRI kicked off Monday in Kuwait City, which brought together several economic powers, as well as regional and international organizations, to make contributions to rebuilding Iraq after many years of war and conflict that ripped through various parts of the country.
