ISLAMABAD, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least four security personnel were killed when some unknown miscreants ambushed them in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta on Wednesday, said a senior police official.

Abdul Razzaq Cheema, deputy inspector general of Quetta police, said an unknown number of armed men sprayed bullets on a paramilitary frontier corps (FC) vehicle, which was on routine patrol in the Langoabad area of Quetta, the provincial capital of the country's southwestern Balochistan province.

As a result, four FC personnel received fatal gun wounds and were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta, where doctors pronounced their death.

Heavy contingent of police along with other law enforcement agencies reached the spot and kicked off an investigation into the incident. Security was tightened in the area to arrest the culprits involved in the attack.

Muazzam Jah, inspector general of Balochistan police, said there was no CCTV camera in the area of the attack. However, experts are investigating the evidences found from the scene.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo condemned the incident and sought report from the concerned authorities regarding the incident.
