NAIROBI, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- World 800m bronze medalist Kipyegon Bett is sweating over the participation at the Commonwealth Games.

Bett missed out from the Kenya trials on Saturday and will have to wait for the wild card to make the team, though Kenyan officials had ruled out that all athletes must compete on during the trials for them to qualify to make the team to Gold Coast.

Bett failed to recover from the injury sustained in training two weeks ago, hence failing to make the trials at Kasarani. Bett failed to start during the 800m semi-finals in the morning.

World 5,000m champion Hellen Obiri was assured of a wild card as she is focusing on the IAAF Indoor Tour, where she aims to compete at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham on March 1-4.

Obiri last won Kenya gold in this event at the 2014 event, but skipped the 2016 edition. She will represent Kenya in the 5,000m in Gold Coast.
