DOHA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- France reiterates its support for the Kuwaiti mediation, and Qatar's strong desire to end the Gulf rift through constructive dialogue, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported Monday.

In an interview with Qatari Arabic daily Al Sharq newspaper, the French Envoy for the Gulf Countries Bertrand Besancenot made the remarks.

''We believe that dialogue is the only solution to end the crisis that harms everyone and we are aware of Doha's strong desire to get out of this situation. Therefore, France supports the Kuwaiti mediation and the Qatari desire and its policy,'' the French envoy said.

The French envoy, however, warned that the Gulf dispute has severe impacts on everyone which will severely affect the returning of international investment to the region.

Besancenot said that the president of France is aware of the negative impacts of the siege on the people of Qatar and the region and called on the Arab countries to resolve it immediately.

"Resolving the crisis may take time, but France's ally, the U.S., is also interested in resolving the issue which would contribute to ending the crisis," he said.

Paris has close political and commercial relations with Doha and has pushed business interest inside the country recently.

Last December, Qatar and France have signed 16 billion euros in deals during the French president's visit to Doha; the agreements included several fields such as education, culture and military.

Earlier, in June last year, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt imposed sanctions on Qatar, accusing it of financing extremist groups and allying with the Gulf Arab states' arch-foe Iran, allegations Doha denies.
