PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Canada and the United States are expected to clash in the women's ice hockey final, a replay of their showdown in Sochi four years ago, after they knocked down Finland and the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) in Monday's semifinals.

The Americans dominated the rink to win over the Sochi bronze winners Finland 5-0, while Canada tamed the OAR with the same score. Finland and the OAR will fight for the bronze on Wednesday.

The Americans have no problem getting chances when they play the Canadians, but their scoring dilemma was never more evident than in the preliminary round match, where Canada beat the United States 2-1.

The two powerhouses in the women's ice hockey have been trading world and Olympic titles since the 1990s.

The United States vowed not to let the gold slip away in Thursday's final.

"This team's ready. This team is full of passion, energy, excitement. We've worked really hard this tournament, the last four years and our entire lives to put ourselves in a position to go after a gold medal and that's a position we're in right now, so we're excited," said U.S. forward Meghan Duggan.
