BEIRUT, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stressed Friday the strategic partnership with the Lebanese Army, slamming the Israeli media reports accusing the peacekeeping forces of failing to carry out their duties.

"UNIFIL is aware of these media reports which contain clear inaccuracies. UNIFIL is working around the clock and carrying out some 450 operational activities each day. We have close coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces, almost 40 percent of our activities are carried out at night," UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti was quoted by the National News Agency (NNA) as saying.

He emphasized that the UNIFIL highly values its partnership with the Lebanese army, especially in the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, affirming the role of Lebanese army in preserving calm and stability in UNIFIL operations.

Israeli media have accused the UNIFIL of becoming an "excuse for Hezbollah and the Lebanese government to violate UN Resolution 1701."

Israel fought a month-long war against Hezbollah in 2006, killing more than 1,200 Lebanese, mostly civilians, and more than 160 Israelis, mostly soldiers.

UN Resolution 1701 was adopted to end the war, calling for full respect of the Blue Line.
