PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Switzerland claimed the gold medal of Alpine team event at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games here on Saturday.

Powered by victories of Ramon Zenhaeusern, Wendy Holdener and Daniel Yule, Swiss Alpine skiers beat their Austrian counterparts 3-1 in the big final of the newly-established event conducted in a parallel format in PyeongChang.

"It's just great to win with the team today. I knew we could do it. Everyone knows that, but in end, you just have to do it. Pressure was here," commented Holdener, who bagged home three Olympic medals.

In Alpine team event, a team consists of up to six competitors, at least two from each gender, from the same National Olympic Committee, and races are timed to 0.01 of a second.

"It's crazy. The dream continued. I never thought about it. Now I go home with a gold medal and a silver medal, it's a dream," her teammate Zenhaeusern commented.

Following a 2-2 draw with France in the small final, Norway took away the bronze medal with a superior combined time.
