U.S.-WASHINGTON D.C.-DACA-PROTEST

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and young immigrants demonstrate at the Capitol in Washington D.C., the United States, on March 5, 2018. DACA, established by former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2012, was an immigration policy that allowed some individuals who entered the United States as minors, mostly illegally, to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and to be eligible for a work permit. U.S. President Donald Trump announced an end to the program in September last year, but gave Congress six months to find a legislative alternative. Congress has so far failed to pass legislation.
