TEHRAN, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Six people were injured in an earthquake measuring 5.4 in magnitude that shook Kahnooj city in Iran's southeastern Kerman province on Wednesday evening.

Five of the injured people received preliminary treatment and one of them was hospitalized.

With a depth of 28 km, the earthquake's epicenter was at 27.993 degrees north latitude and 57.838 degrees east longitude.

Some buildings have been damaged and cracks on the walls are visible.

Medical services along with disaster relief forces have been stationed in the area and relief aid is being offered to the people.
