BUCHAREST, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Romanian President Klaus Iohannis Thursday told a joint press conference with his visiting Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic that any solution to Kosovo should satisfy all the parties concerned as much as possible.

"Kosovo is a complicated subject," Iohannis told the press conference, stressing that he can not imagine a solution to Kosovo rejected by the Serbs.

"A solution can not be imposed from outside, but can be discussed with relevant actors," he said, adding that Romania is willing to engage in finding good solutions for the whole area.

Vucic also expressed the willingness to seek a compromise solution to Kosovo, saying "For us, the Kosovo issue is a very big issue, but we will strive to find a compromise solution."

He thanked Romania for not recognizing the independence of Kosovo.

"I am grateful to President Klaus Iohannis and the Romanian people for the support Romania is giving for the European path of Serbia, for the desire to reach a compromise on the Kosovo issue," said Vucic.

He hoped that Romania, during the Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2019, will raise among the top issues that Western Balkan countries will face in the European Union.

Vucic arrived in Bucharest for his first official visit in Romania as President of Serbia.

The visit follows intense bilateral contacts in recent years and confirms the very good character of the relations between the two countries, according to the Presidential Administration.

President Iohannis paid an official visit to Serbia in July 2015.
