Kuwait, Turkmenistan strike deals for cooperation

KUWAIT CITY, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait and Turkmenistan on Tuesday sealed a number of deals to promote cooperation in various fields, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and visiting Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

The two sides have agreed to form a joint committee for cooperation, in addition to a bilateral visa exemption deal for holders of diplomatic, service and special passports, KUNA said.

Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his Turkmen counterpart Rasit Meredow signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to hold regular discussions.

Kuwait's Finance Minister Nayef Al-Hajraf and the Turkmen deputy Prime Minister also signed a deal over economic cooperation.

The Kuwaiti and Turkmen governments also forged an agreement for closer ties on the cultural front.

Berdimuhamedow and his accompanying delegation arrived in Kuwait Tuesday on an official state visit.
