ISLAMABAD, March 14 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and 20 others injured including several policemen on Wednesday evening in a blast in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, local media and police said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Haider Ashraf told local reporters that the blast hit a police check post in Raiwind area located on the outskirts of Lahore, the provincial capital of eastern Punjab province.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the body and the injured persons to the nearby hospitals.

At least nine policemen, including an officer, were among the wounded, Ashraf said.

Nature of the blast is not known yet. However, local media reported that the explosives were fixed in a motorcycle which was used in the attack.

No group has claimed the incident yet.
