TOKYO, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Thursday morning as the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar dented sentiment coupled with fears that U.S. President Donald Trump's protectionist trade moves will have global ramifications.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 102.81 points, or 0.47 percent, from Wednesday to 21,674.48.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 7.67 points, or 0.44 percent, to 1,735.54.

Marine transportation, oil and coal product, and rubber product-linked issues led those that declined the most by the morning break.
