LOS ANGELES, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles Fashion Week (LAFW) concluded here Friday night by presenting a Lifetime Achievement Award to Sue Wong, one of the most famous and successful Chinese American fashion designers.

At the historic Park Plaza Hotel, more than 500 guests watched Sue Wong's award show, in which she presented about 60 newly designed dresses with oriental, mysterious, elegant, and royal factors in her style.

Born in China, the 69-year-old fashion designer and Hollywood celebrity started her fashion career in the United States without any professional education, and made a name for herself in the fashion industry in 1984.

In 1999, Sue Wong created Sue Wong Nocturne, an evening wear brand that was worn by Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Vanessa Minnillo, Kelly Osbourne, Tyra Banks, and other celebrities.

She is best known for her dress designs with a contemporary twist based on an old Hollywood glamour style, and now her collections are available in about 27 countries and regions.

Los Angeles Fashion Week, first launched in 1953 as a West Coast alternative to New York Fashion Week, takes place biannually.
