MADRID, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Liga Santander club Real Sociedad on Sunday sacked coach Eusebio Sacristan after almost two and a half years on the bench.

Eusebio was sacked in the wake of a 2-1 home defeat to Getafe on Saturday evening which left Real Sociedad fifteenth on the table with 33 points from 29 games; their worst position at this stage of the season since the 2011-12 season.

The former Barcelona B-team coach arrived at the club to replace David Moyes in November 2015 and has been in charge for 112 games, last season leading them to qualification for the Europa League with a sixth-place finish.

Eusebio will be replaced by Real Sociedad's B-team coach Imanol Alguacil until the end of the season and his main task will be to shore up a defense which has conceded 51 goals this campaign.

Sunday also saw the club reach an agreement for its Director of Sport, with Lorenzo Juarros 'Loren' to leave his post after 9 years in the role.

In an official communique, the club highlighted that Loren, who also played over 400 times for the Real Sociedad first team, had helped see them to promotion from the second division to the Primera Liga and also to qualification for the Champions League and Europa Leauge.
