Indonesian U-23 pledge to beat Singapore in friendly

JAKARTA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian U-23 national team pledged to defeat Singapore in a friendly match on Wednesday, Indonesian coach disclosed on Tuesday.

Coach Luis Milla said that he would see the performance of players, who have shown best performance during practice, at the upcoming match to be held in the city state.

"We really want to win this match. And we will give opportunity to players with best performance during exercises to play against Singapore," he said in a statement issued by the association.

The coach stressed that all the Indonesian players have not underestimate the Singaporean team despite it has never experienced victory.

"As we know that Singaporean team is not in a good condition. But, May be there will be surprises, some players may play in different position," said Milla.

The coach revealed that the Wednesday's match will be warm up for the Asian Games.

The 18th Asian Games is scheduled to be held in Indonesian capital of Jakarta and Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra province from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
