JAKARTA, March 23 (Xinhua) -- David Beckham is scheduled to attend a charity event in Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Sunday to raise funds to help financing Indonesian football training schools for children.
The former captain of British national football team would appear in a football clinic event held in Jakarta's football lawn of Soemantri Brodjonegoro, meeting him with talented Indonesian children eager to build their career in football sports.
"Beckham's presence would give happiness and inspire Indonesian children to be like him. Indonesian young players would obtain knowledge and skills to play football directly from himself," Indonesia Youths and Sports Minister Imam Nachrawi said.
During his visit to Indonesia, Beckham, who played in several top European football clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris St. Germain, was also scheduled to play with Indonesian football legends in charity football matches.
Beckham had previously visited Indonesia in 2011 with his football team L.A. Galaxy.
