NANNING, China, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani's goals helped Uruguay beat Czech Republic 2-0 in the China Cup 2018 here on Friday night.

Uruguay will play Wales in the final of the tournament on March 26.

Suarez was brought down by Czech Republic's goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka in the 10th minute, and he decided to take it on his own. The Uruguayan beat the goalkeeper and made the score 1-0.

Uruguay extended the lead to 2-0 in the 38th minute, when Cavani received a pass from Suarez and scored with a spectacular bicycle kick.

Czech Republic didn't want to give up easily, and they created several chances in the second half, but Patrik Schick's shot from close range was denied by the bar.

Neither side was able to change the score sheet in the rest of the game. Therefore Uruguay goes into the final and will play Wales on March 26, while Czech Republic will meet hosts China in the third-place playoff on the same day.

In the first edition of the tournament last year, China lost 2-0 to Iceland but finished third after beating Croatia in a penalty shootout.
