BERLIN, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Gabriel Jesus' sole goal of the game helped Brazil edge Germany 1-0 in a test match at outsold Olympia stadium in Berlin on Tuesday.

Germany's 22-game unbeaten run came to an end as Joachim Loew's men lacked in ideas to overcome Brazil's well-positioned defence within ninety minutes. The World Cup titleholders suffered their first loss since July 2016.

The visitors from South America staged a defensively minded performance in the opening period whereas Germany's offense kept Brazil's defense busy. However, neither Mario Gomez nor Joshua Kimmich were able to break the deadlock.

Brazil came to their first chance through Gabriel Jesus who had all time and space at the edge of the box but missed the target in the 36th minute. The striker made amends for his missed promising chance after heading home a corner from close range moments later.

The Germans looked shocked and they were unable to respond while Brazil almost doubled their advantage in the 55th minute before German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp defused Paulinho's shot.

Loew fielded Julian Brandt, Sandro Wagner and Lars Stindl although all three players made an impact, Germany still were unable to score the equalizer.

"It wasn't our day today. We have made some changes and that was noticeable. We made a lot of mistake and made Brazil strong. Today we have made our experience and we will learn from them," Loew said.
