ANKARA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's economy grew 7.4 percent in 2017 compared with the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said on Thursday.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by production approach with chain linked volume index (2009=100) increased by 7.4 percent in 2017, compared to 2016, according to a report released by the TurkStat.

GDP at current prices reached 3.1 trillion Turkish Lira (about 850 billion U.S. dollars) last year, up 19 percent from 2016, the report said.

The GDP per capita in 2017 was 38,660 Turkish Lira (10,597 U.S. dollars) at current prices, the report added.

Although Turkey enjoyed booming growth in 2017, the above 10 percent inflation has remained a stubbornly risk in economy development. Turkish Lira has also suffered from bouts of volatility and rapid depreciation, reaching an all-time low against U.S. dollar in March, 2018. Enditem
