JAKARTA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will send four pairs of badminton players to the Asian Championships in China next month, the country's coach said here on Thursday.

The four men's pairs will take part in the Badminton Asian Championships in Wuhan from April 24 to 29, coach of Indonesian men's double's team Herry Imam Pierngadi said.

"The number of pairs to be sent to the tournament will depend on their ranks," he said.

Indonesia's men's doubles pair Kevin/Marcus, who secured gold in the recent All-England tournament, will be absent from the Asian Badminton Championship as Marcus is set to get married.

Top badminton players from across Asia are expected to take part in the Championships, featuring some 300 shuttlers from 20 countries and regions.

The Championship will serve as a testing ground prior to the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia, according to Kim Hong-Ki, general secretary of Badminton Asia.

Wuhan has held the Asian Badminton Championships three times, from 2015 to 2017, and will be the home of Badminton Asia's flagship tournament until 2020.
