TOKYO, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors took cues from Wall Street's overnight sell-off triggered by U.S. trade policy concerns.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 270.92 points, or 1.27 percent, from Monday to 21,117.66.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 15.57 points, or 0.91 percent, at 1,693.21.

Electric appliance, metal product, and oil and coal product-related issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
