SINGAPORE, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend up 0.22 percent or 7.46 points to close at 3449.96.
A total of 1.95 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.17 billion Singapore dollars (about 893.62 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 249 to 165.
The STI index closed up 1.08 percent or 36.85 points to close at 3442.5 last Friday.
