BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Global industrial giant ABB Wednesday rolled out a building systems control device in China to make home life smarter.

The ABB i-bus KNX PEONIA sensor is a smart control panel that can monitor and respond to changes in temperature, light, and air quality. It can automatically adjust lighting, close or open blinds or shutters, and regulate air conditioning.

The new product aims to offer all-in-one smart solutions to enhance comfort levels in high-class residential buildings, hotels, and other commercial buildings.

China is ABB's second largest market for smart building products after Germany, according to Bernhard Doerstel, global product group manager of ABB's building automation business.

China has huge potential for smart home systems and devices given its ongoing urbanization and development of smart cities, he said, adding that China might overtake Germany to be ABB's largest building automation market by 2022.

ABB has been in China for about 40 years, with an accumulative investment of about 16 billion yuan (2.55 billion U.S. dollars).

ABB has participated in and benefited from China's reform and opening-up, and witnessed the transition from "made in China" to "created in China," said Zhao Yongzhan, senior vice president of ABB China.

China's research and development competitiveness is the fastest growing among the company's global markets, Zhao added.
