TEHRAN, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official said Wednesday that the Western accusations about the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons against its people are fabricated.

The foreign minister's special assistant for political affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, said Iran opposes employing chemical weapons by any party which is totally unacceptable.

The United States and its allies are threatening to carry out military action against the Syrian government under the pretext of chemical weapons use, he said after a meeting with Russia's special envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev in the capital Tehran.

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that the allegations against the Syrian government over the use of chlorine gas were fabricated in an attack on Douma district in Eastern Ghouta countryside of Damascus.
