CAIRO, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Egypt on Wednesday mourned the victims of an Algerian military plane crash earlier in the day that killed 257 people on board.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry offered condolences in a statement to the families of the victims and expressed Egypt's support for Algeria in this plight.
Meanwhile, Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit on Wednesday expressed his deepest condolences in a statement to the Algerian leadership, government and people and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
An Ilyushin I-76 troop carrier belonging to the Algerian Air Force crashed Wednesday morning in the perimeter of the military airbase of Boufarik, killing 257 people on board, the Algerian Defense Ministry confirmed in a statement.
