NAIROBI, April 12 (Xinhua) -- The Kenyan shilling strengthened slightly against the U.S. dollar on Thursday supported by increased inflows from the horticulture sector.

The shilling traded against the dollar at an average of 100.90, rising from 100.95 during the Wednesday session.

The Central Bank of Kenya placed the shilling at a stable position of 100.97 in the Thursday trading session, a small rise from 101.00.

Commercial banks in the East African nation, on the other hand, quoted the currency at between 100.80 and 101.00. On Wednesday, the banks placed the shilling 100.85 and 101.00 on Tuesday.

Currency traders attributed the slight surge to increased dollar inflows from the agriculture sector in particular horticulture.

Against the British Pound, the shilling weakened to stand at 143.34 from 143.14 in the trading session on Wednesday. Enditem
