China takes two golds in FINA Artistic Swimming World Series Beijing opening day

BEIJING, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The host team of China brought the triumphs to home supporters twice in the first days' actions of the 2018 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series Beijing here on Friday, as they collected two golds in duet technical and team technical.

The other title of the opening day, solo technical, went to Slovakia's Nada Daabousova who finished with a score of 78.1890 points.

Home favourites Jiang Sisters (Jiang Wenwen and Jiang Tingting), the winners of the duet free routine in the first stop in Paris, took the title in duet technical today with a score of 90.5171 points. Another sisters pair, Anna-Maria Alexandri and Eirini Alexandri of Austria won a silver with 84.7241. The bronze medal went to American duo Anita Alvarez and Ruby Remati, who finished with 81.7575.

"It's not our best level today, we can finish it better," said Jiang Wenwen. "There are some small mistakes today, not very serious, but we should improve in some details."

When asked about the phenomenon there are more and more Chinese twins pairs start to learn artistic swimming, both Wenwen and Tingting thought it is good for the sport in China.

"We know that there are four twins in the French team, which benefits the whole team a lot," Jiang Tingting said.

The host team also won the title of team technical routine, as the United States and Slovakia also finished on the podium.
