BEIJING, April. 23 (Xinhuanet) – China has actively cooperated with the international community in cyberspace to make the global cyberspace governance system fairer and more reasonable, a Chinese expert in cybersecurity has said.

“The global community is faced with common security threats in cyberspace. No one can stay away from it, and no one can resist it solely,” Zuo Xiaodong, vice-president of the China Information Security Research Institute, said in a recent interview with Xinhuanet.

To cope with common security threats, China has worked to enhance regional dialogues and promote international cooperation, Zuo noted.

For example, China holds international meetings such as the World Internet Conference. And China organizes seminars on cybersecurity under the framework of ASEAN Regional Forum, and Boao Forum for Asia.

These aim for the formulation of international cyberspace rules accepted by all, said Zuo.

Zuo also pointed out that China has made historic achievements in enhancing cybersecurity since the 18th CPC National Congress.

He used several examples to elaborate on the achievements: a Cybersecurity Law has been adopted by China’s top legislature, and a cyberspace security strategy that serves as work guidance has been released by China’s top Internet regulator.

He added that the awareness of cybersecurity has been significantly enhanced in the entire society, thanks to the China Cybersecurity Week, an activity that has been held for four consecutive years.

Speaking of the development of core Internet technologies, which are key to China’s Internet development, Zuo said that China has caught up in areas such as artificial intelligence and quantum communication, and that China is now leading the world in some of the fields.
