MADRID, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares gained on Monday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 up 0.38 percent or 37.80 points to 9,922 points.
A total of 21 of the selected 35 large companies rose in the day.
Insurance company Mapfre advanced 2.13 percent, being the top gainer of the day. Spain's third largest bank Caixabank rose 1.42 percent and Spain's fourth largest bank Banco Sabadell was up 1.41 percent.
Stainless steel manufacturer Acerinox lost 1.72 percent, being the top loser of the blue chips. Consultancy and technology company Indra A was down 1.53 percent and energy company Gas Natural fell 1.40 percent. Enditem
