KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian police on Wednesday released a fresh photo of one of the two suspects who killed a Palestinian lecturer, and asked for public assistance to find the suspects believed to still be in the country.
Malaysian police chief Mohamad Fuzi Bin Harun told a press conference that the police was able to confirm the photo of a suspect after finding the motorbike that the two were riding when conducting the murder.
The two suspects on Saturday gunned down Fadi M. R. Albatsh, an electrical engineer from Palestine who was lecturing at a Malaysian university in the capital of Kuala Lumpur.
The motorbike was abandoned near a lake around 9 minutes from the crime scene, Fuzi said.
Police have previously released computer-generated photos of the two suspects based on accounts by eye-witnesses but have yet to identify them.
"We believe the suspects at this moment are still in our country," said Fuzi, adding that the duo had been in Malaysia since the end of January and had used fake identities.
Hamas, the Palestinian political organization, said Fadi was its member and some in Palestine had blamed Israeli agents for his death.
Fuzi agreed that the killing was "very professional in manner," but declined to say whether it was conducted by the Israeli intelligence agency of Mossad.
"We have to look into all angles," he said. "We are confident that through the assistance of the public we will be able to get these suspects," he said.
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said earlier that the killing could have some links with foreign intelligence agencies.
Fadi's body is expected to be sent back to Palestine on Wednesday.
