BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Tsinghua x-lab, an education platform of China's renowned Tsinghua University, will launch a center next month to empower Chinese women to pursue their careers and entrepreneurial dreams.

"The Tsinghua x-lab SHE Center will also promote gender equality and create a more equitable social environment for marginalized groups to help the country combat poverty and invigorate the economy," according to Pearl Mao, executive director of Tsinghua x-lab, which is mainly run by women.

The Global Green Economic Forum (GGEF), a business conference organization operating as a social enterprise, will be the anchor donor of the center.

The GGEF announced Tuesday four winners of its annual Women Eco Game Changer Awards promoting women's empowerment in business, of whom three were Chinese women.

Among them, Zhang XiaoDan, general manager at the China Environmental United Certification Center, won the Social Eco Game Changer for her years of dedication to environmental labelling. Ni Huan, founder of Shanghai Green Light Year Environmental Service Center, was awarded the Eco Innovator in recognition of promoting renewable energy technologies within communities.

"Women's participation is crucial to building sustainable communities and the future, as well as to accelerate the growth of Asia's green economy," said GGEF founder and CEO Christina Lee.
