HONG KONG, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Set up over two decades ago, the Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail, a cultural attraction in Hong Kong's Central and Western District, has recently put on a new look to boost travel experience for tourists and locals.

The historical trail was set up in 1996, connecting 15 historic spots related to Sun Yat-sen, a renowned statesman who led the revolution that ended imperial rule in China, and an information board based on Hong Kong in the time of Sun, making a total of 16 spots on the trail.

A revitalization project of the historical trail was launched about two years ago by the Tourism Commission of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, in collaboration with the Central and Western District Council of Hong Kong and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR government.

Under the project, nine local artists were invited to create unique artworks to replace the original memorial plaques along the trail.

The revitalized trail, integrating art elements under the theme of "art across time" and in concert with the unique cultural and historical ambiance of Central and Western District, has become Hong Kong's latest cultural attraction to provide a rich and brand new travel experience for visitors.

Speaking at the kick-off ceremony on Thursday, Hong Kong's Commissioner for Tourism Joe Wong said that nurturing and developing tourism products and initiatives with local and international characteristics is one of the development strategies for Hong Kong tourism.

The revitalization of the trail is to take forward this strategy by enriching the contents of cultural and heritage tourism in Hong Kong, allowing visitors to learn more about its cultural and artistic facets. This also meets tourists' quest for in-depth and diversified travel experiences in recent years, Wong added.

To make it easier for visitors to appreciate the artworks and historical flavors of the trail, all artworks have been attached with QR codes to provide information related.
