U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

NEW YORK, April 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Friday, with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

At Friday's close, shares of Baidu, a Chinese tech giant listed in the U.S. equity market, increased 5.55 percent, leading the advancers, while shares of TAL Education Group dropped 2.10 percent and shares of New Oriental Education & Technology Group fell 0.22 percent as the only two laggards among the top 10 stocks of the index.

As of Thursday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,987.98, marking a 3.10-percent decline for the month-to-date returns and a 3.33-percent decrease for the year-to-date returns.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Friday as investors were sifting through a string of corporate earnings.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 11.15 points, or 0.05 percent, to 24,311.19. The S&P 500 climbed 2.97 points, or 0.11 percent, to 2,669.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 1.12 points, or 0.02 percent, to 7,119.80.
