TEHRAN, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran said it is in talks with Switzerland for investments in Iran's zinc mines, Financial Tribune reported on Saturday.

Preliminary talks have been launched with Swiss investors to develop Mehdiabad, one of the world's largest zinc deposits, said Mehdi Karbasian, Iranian deputy minister of industries, mining and trade.

Iran enjoys "very good" relations with European countries and expects their investments in the mining sector, which will benefit both sides, Karbasian said, hinting at Iranian government's assurances.

Foreign investors are possible to hold full ownership of projects and to take their profits abroad, he said, adding that this will guarantee their investment.

The report added that Iran's zinc exports during the past Iranian calendar year, from March 2017 to March 2018, reached 181,097 tons valued at 386 million U.S. dollars.

Iran's zinc exports reportedly dropped by 4.9 percent in tonnage but grew 46.9 percent in value year on year.
