Dollar changes hands around 109 yen line in early trade in Tokyo

TOKYO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands around the 109 yen line in early deals in Tokyo on Wednesday, largely in line with its levels in New York overnight.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 109.04-05 yen compared with 109.08-18 yen in New York and 108.92-94 yen at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1867-1868 dollars and 129.40-41 yen against 1.1859-1869 dollars and 129.44-54 yen in New York and 1.1916-1917 dollars and 129.79-83 yen in late Tuesday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
