TEHRAN, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Friday denounced a recent statement by the chief of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) pertaining to Iran's nuclear deal, official IRNA news agency reported.
The anti-Iran "irresponsible and ineptly-drafted statement" by the OIC Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen is in violation of the principle of the OIC secretariat, the foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.
Following the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal on Tuesday, Al-Othaimeen said the deal has not been effective in establishing security and peace in the region.
"Al-Othaimeen had previously made such biased, unconstructive statements on the developments in the region, ignoring the influential status of the OIC in confronting the Zionist regime (of Israel) and supporting the Palestinian cause," Qasemi said.
On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced U.S. exit from the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, urging further negotiations on the deal to contain Iran's influence in the region.
