RIYADH, May 14 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in Yemeni war announced on Monday the interception of a missile which was fired towards border city Jazan and fell on the desert, Al Arabiya local news reported.

The spokesperson of the coalition, Col. Turki Al Maliki highlighted in a statement that the missile was fired by Houthi militia from Yemeni city Sa'dah on early morning. He accused the militias of purposely targeting residential areas and Iran of supporting them to destabilize regional security.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a group of Arab countries in fighting Houthis in support of Yemeni exiled government for the last three years. Border cities have been the most targeted in such attacks, with the majority of the missiles intercepted by Saudi air forces.
