ALGIERS, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday condemned the "terrible crime" against residents of Gaza Strip by Israeli occupation forces, as more than 60 Palestinians were killed.

Bouteflika said in a letter to President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas that "the Israeli occupation continues its aggressive practice against civilians, in violation of all international laws and customs, human rights instruments and international humanitarian law."

The Algerian president added that "following this terrible crime that shook the feelings of Muslims and the entire world, which we entirely condemn, I assure you of Algeria's support and solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in the face of Israeli barbarity."

A number of political parties in Algeria have also condemned the aggression of Israeli army forces against Palestinians.

The ruling party of the National Democratic Rally, led by Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, condemned what it called "the terrorist assassinations that are claiming the lives and causing blood of our Palestinian brothers in Gaza."

The Islamist Movement for the Society of Peace (MSP) condemned the crimes committed by Israel "which are blessed by unjust and racist policy of the U.S. administration towards Palestine and its people and holy sites, as it transferred its embassy to occupied Jerusalem."

Several other parties from different background expressed their anger and condemned the killing of civilians by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.

The death toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces at the Gaza borderline hit 62 following confrontations with Israeli forces that sparked on Monday.

The demonstrations coincided with the inauguration of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem. Enditem
