LONDON, May 16 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 11.22 points or 0.15 percent at 7,734.20 points.
Paddy Power Betfair, a large British bookmaking business, soared 6.31 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Micro Focus International and Anglo American rose by 6.19 percent and 4.98 percent, respectively.
Smurfit Kappa Group, Europe's leading corrugated packaging company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.08 percent.
