TORONTO, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock index edged up little Wednesday as gains in materials and industrials groups offset a drop in energy sector stocks.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index edged up 10.25 points to close the day at 16,108.06 points.
The Canadian dollar went up to 0.78.18 U.S. dollar.
First Majestic Silver rose 1.8 percent to 9.15 Canadian dollars while First Quantum Minerals jumped 5.4 percent to 22.10 Canadian dollars.
Air Canada climbed 3 cents to 24.68 Canadian dollars while Canadian National Railway added 2.5 percent to 106.45 Canadian dollars.
Kinder Morgan Canada rose 2 percent to 17.09 Canadian dollars.
Hydro One lost 2 percent to 18.95 Canadian dollars, while Fortis Inc fell 21 cents to 41.85 Canadian dollars.
Barrick Gold edged down 2 cents to 16.90 Canadian dollars and Kinross Gold fell 2.2 percent to 4.56 Canadian dollars.
