BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Senior legislator Wang Dongming has called for more efforts on effective implementation of the Statistics Law.

Wang, vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, made the remarks during a trip to north China's Hebei Province and northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region this week.

"More attention should be paid to solving problems that hinder the implementation of the law, restrict statistics work and compromise data quality," Wang said.

Wang's trip was a part of a round of inspections on the implementation of multiple laws conducted by the NPC Standing Committee earlier this year.

The NPC Standing Committee also inspected the implementation of the Law on the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and southwest China's Sichuan Province, as well as the Law on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution in east China's Anhui Province.

Arken Imirbaki, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, underlined the importance of preventing and controlling infectious diseases to safeguarding health and safety, during his tour to Xinjiang and Sichuan.

Ding Zhongli, also vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said it was still an uphill battle to combat air pollutions, which required governments at all levels to take solid action, during his visit to Anhui.
