KUNMING, China, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese adventurer Jin Feibao, 55, started his challenge of running 100 marathons in 100 consecutive days here on Saturday.

Jin started his journey at Haigeng Park in kunming city and succesfully finished his first marathon with 5 hours and 25 minutes. Then, he will run across Yunnan province and return to Kunming again on August 26.

Jin said:"My goal is running a full marathon every day for 100 days with a stable pace. The journey is exactly 4,219.5 kilometers. Today is a good start, I felt fabulous, and I will try my best to complete the rest."

Yunnan is rich in varied landscape, snow-capped mountains, deep gorges, rice terraces, lakes, and limestone formations, and have a large number of ethnic minorities.

"My passion for running and love to my homeland Yunnan push me to organize this event. I just want to highly recommend Yunnan's famous attractions and inspire more people to run through my running," Jin said.

All the 100 running routes are Yunan's countryside roads in all of the 16 prefectures. Each of the 100 marathons is standard marathon distance with timing, aid stations, medical support, and attracts both elite and runners who can just run 1 of the 100 marathons to participate. However, Jin, the founder of this event, will try to finish all of the races.

The event will also raise money to help the children in the poor regions of Yunnan.

Jin is a devoted mountaineer and marathon runner. He has completed the Explorers Grand Slam, summiting the highest mountains in every continent, reaching both the North and South Poles and has finished more than 70 marathon races.
