AMMAN, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Monday slammed Paraguay for relocating its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the state-run Petra news agency reported on Monday.

Jordan's Minster of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said the opening of the embassy of Paraguay in Jerusalem is a violation of the UN charters and the international legitimacy resolutions.

The minister stressed Jordan's fixed stance that rejects the relocation of any embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, saying that such measure is condemned and rejected by the majority of the world countries.

He said that such measures will only fuel violence and extremism in the region and affect global stability, and encourage Israel to keep on violating the international laws and UN resolutions.

Momani called for launching serious and effective peace talks to resolve the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

Paraguay is the third country to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem after the United States and Guatemala.

The opening ceremony of the Paraguay embassy on Monday was attended by Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
