JERUSALEM, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said its aircraft struck a Hamas underground infrastructure in the northern Gaza Strip and two additional naval force military posts early Wednesday morning.
The move is in retaliation to the infiltration into Israel from the Gaza Strip by a number of Palestinians who later set an Israeli military post on fire earlier on Tuesday.
In addition, IDF claims the strikes were carried out in response to the ongoing attempts to dispatch drones and kites, with the intention of conducting terror activity and setting Israeli territories on fire.
