LONDON, May 23 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down 89.01 points or 1.13 percent at 7,788.44 points.
Marks & Spencer Group, the British clothing and food retailer, soared 5.17 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Imperial Brands and Reckitt Benckiser Group rose by 1.20 percent and 1.03 percent, respectively.
Anglo American, an international mining group, saw its shares losing 5.01 percent. WPP, the British multinational advertising and public relations company, dropped 4.23 percent. Royal Dutch Shell A, a major oil and gas company, dropped 3.34 percent. Enditem
