ANKARA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's Central Bank on Friday announced that the capacity utilization rate (CUR) of the manufacturing industry increased to 77.9 percent in May, up 0.6 percentage point from April, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

The CUR figures are gathered based on a survey by the Central Bank, collecting responses from about 2,150 companies operating in the manufacturing industry, the report said, adding that the monthly data does not reflect the bank's review or predictions.

Manufactures of wood and products of wood and cork, excluding furniture, recorded the highest CUR at 87.7 percent in May, and those of leather and related products showed the lowest rate at 61.1 percent, among more than 30 sectors.

In 2017, the average capacity usage in the manufacturing industry was 78.5 percent, the report said.

The highest CUR occurred in November 2017 at 79.9 percent, while the lowest record was 73.5 percent in February 2013, it said.
