BERLIN, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Leipzig and their CEO Oliver Mintzlaff have agreed on a contract extension ahead of schedule, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Friday.

The 42-year-old has extended his running contract, stipulated until June 2019, for another four years to stay with Leipzig until summer 2023.

"I am very delighted about my contract extension and the trust placed in me. This will enable us to continue our extremely successful path," Mintzlaff told the club's official homepage.

Mintzlaff joined Leipzig in 2014 and experienced the club's march from the second division into the Bundesliga before they booked a berth for UEFA Champions League group stage.

"In my view, the club has everything in order to become a real top club in the future," Mintzlaff said.

The "Bulls" completed the Bundesliga season 2017/18 on the 6th place of the standings and secure a ticket for next season's UEFA Europa League group stage. Enditem
