Tokyo stocks open marginally higher on U.S.-DPRK summit moves

TOKYO, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Monday as the market mood was bolstered by U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that plans were moving forward towards the planned U.S.- Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) summit.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 62.69 points, or 0.28 percent, from Friday to 22,513.48.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 1.22 points, or 0.07 percent, to 1,772.92.

Air transportation, electric appliances and real estate-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
