PARIS, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Toulouse are set to play their 16th successive Ligue 1 season as they beat Ajaccio 1-0 at home and breezed through the two-leg promotion/relegation playoff 4-0 on aggregate on Sunday.

Toulouse won Wednesday's first leg 3-0, a match played behind closed doors. The match was moved to Montpellier after a series of controversial things emerged at Ajaccio's home stadium last Sunday.

Toulouse could have extended their lead as early as on six minutes, only to see Yaya Sanogo short of latching onto Ibrahim Sangare's pass into the box.

Toulouse left-back Francois Moubandje also threatened the opponents' goal in the 18th minute, though Riffi Mandanda, younger brother of Marseille and French national team goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, parried his effort around the post.

Mandanda continued his excellent form in the second half, as he denied shots from Max Gradel and Jimmy Durmaz in succession.

However, Durmaz finally found the target just two minutes from time, extending Toulouse's margin to four goals.

Toulouse, placed third from the bottom in the 2017-2018 season, managed to stay in French top-flight league.

Two outfits relegated into next season's second division are Troyes and Metz.
